Tips on Playing Blackjack

Blackjack has been a long time favorite card game at casinos and Saturday night poker games. The reason might be because blackjack is easy to learn how to play and unlike regular poker, it isn't necessary to learn any combinations.

Blackjack is pretty simply really, the object of the game of blackjack is to end up with a sum total of 21 points, or close to it without going over, when the value of the playing cards are added together. If one goes over a total of 21, then he loses that game.

The players are dealt two cards. After looking at their cards, the players then have to make a decision on whether they would like to 'stand' or 'hit'. If a player wants to 'stand', that means he thinks he will be the closest to 21 at the end of the game with the cards he already has. If they player wants a 'hit', that means he want the dealer to give him additional cards to try and get closer to 21 points.

The player can get as many additional cards as he wants until he feels like is is as close to 21 points as he wants to risk getting without going over and losing the game.

After everyone is at a 'stand', then whoever is closest to 21 without going over is the winner.

Blackjack is a game of luck depending on how the cards fall, but there is also some skill involved in knowing when to 'stand' and when to take a 'hit' based on the odds.

Here are a few blackjack tips that might help you win more games:

If the player has 17 points or more is is best to 'stand'. If they player has 13 to 16 points and the dealer's card shows 6 points or less, it is best to 'stand', but when the dealer has 7 or more points then it is best to 'hit'.

The player should usually assume the dealer's down card is equal to 10 points.

When the player has 8s or aces, it is best to split no matter what the dealer's card shows.

The player should not split 10s.

When the dealer shows a 4, 5, or a 6, it is best to 'stand' on a 12 or 'hit' when the dealer shows a 2, 3, or a 7 or more.

The player should not split 4s, face cards, or 5s.

Luck plays a big part in gambling, but it doesn't hurt to know and follow a few blackjack tips to increase your chances of winning.
